ACAI BOWL INGREDIENTS
You only need a few ingredients to make the base of the acai bowl, then you can add toppings of your choice -
Frozen acai packets: I made this smoothie bowl with Sambazon Acai Packets, but you could also use acai powder. If you grab the frozen acai packets, make sure to get them unsweetened. There’s no need for added sugar considering the sweetness of all the fruit!
Fruits: You’ll need frozen berries (any berries that you prefer ). You can also add a frozen banana if you like it, I don’t like bananas so I skip it.
Greek Yogurt: I like to use Greek yoghurt which increases the protein content of the acai bowl but if you don’t prefer yoghurt you can use milk.
Sweetener: It’s best to eat acai unsweeted but if you prefer slightly more sweet you can add a tbsp of honey or maple syrup.
Topping Options-
Peanut butter
Granola
Strawberries
Seed mix
Chia pudding
How to make acai bowl at home-
Thaw the Frozen Acai: Take out your packet of frozen acai from the freezer and allow it to sit at room temperature for 2-3 minutes. This slight thawing will soften the acai, making it easier to blend later on.
Blend the Acai Mixture: Once the acai has softened slightly, carefully add it to the blender along with 1/4 cup of Greek yoghurt (or milk) and 1/2 cup of your chosen frozen berries. Blend the mixture on high speed until smooth and creamy.
Sweeten to Taste (Optional): If you prefer a sweeter bowl, you can add a drizzle of maple syrup or honey to the blended mixture. Adjust the sweetness according to your preference, keeping in mind the natural sweetness of the berries.
Customize Your Toppings: Now comes the fun part – topping your acai masterpiece! Prepare your desired toppings such as peanut butter, fresh berries, granola, or any other favorites you have on hand. Get creative and mix and match for a personalized touch.
Assemble Your Bowl: Pour the blended acai mixture into a bowl, ensuring it's smooth and evenly distributed. Then, sprinkle your chosen toppings generously over the top, covering the entire surface of the bowl.
Serve and Enjoy: Your high-protein acai bowl is now ready to be enjoyed! Grab a spoon, dig in, and savour every spoonful of this nutritious delight. Whether you're fueling up for a busy day ahead or simply treating yourself to a leisurely morning indulgence, this bowl is sure to hit the spot.
